Fitocracy, one of my favorite fitness-tracking apps, is like having a friendly workout coach in your pocket.

Though Fitocracy can also track general fitness and weight loss (an excellent food journal built-in), it shines when you’re looking to make gains at the gym or get stronger and fitter.

You earn points called Respect based on how many reps of each exercise you do correctly, and then you can use that Respect to compare yourself with other Fitocrats around you.

Or, if you feel like showing off, post videos of yourself exercising so others can give you props!

The app also includes a Cheat Day button, which automatically sets your calories to 1,000, perfect for when you want to eat everything in sight.

Actual trainers create tons of workouts, so if you want someone else to plan your routine, check out Fitocracy. It’s available for free on iTunes and Google Play.

3. Yoga Studio

There’s something to be said about having an exercise plan. Yoga Studio is my favorite app because it has easy-to-follow guided sessions with instructors and provides endless inspiration from anyone who’s ever practiced yoga.

YYogaan connects with others using the app to get real-time feedback and motivation! You only need 15 minutes of your day to squeeze in a quick session on that lunch break or after work.

4. MapMyRun

One of our favorite workout apps perfect for walkers and runners alike, MapMyRun will lead you through hundreds of routes worldwide, providing detailed information about elevation, duration, and distance.

You can also use it to set daily step goals and receive motivation to reach them. You can enter friends’ or family members’ birthdays and have a virtual birthday race with them for added fun.

You can even upload photos or voice notes and your data to share with friends on Facebook as you train! MapMyRun is well worth its $4.99 price tag with so many features.

5. Endomondo Sports Tracker

Endomondo Sports Tracker is one of my favorite iPhone apps. It allows you to track all sorts of exercises and has an integrated social network (Endomondo) that allows you to challenge other users and receive customized training programs.

A coach mapped out these programs and automatically synced them to your phone, so it’s easy to follow along even if you’re not at home.

You can also enter nutrition data, which helps track weight loss. Great app!

6. Nike+ Running

You can turn any activity into a workout with Nike+ Running, whether a quick walk or run around the block.

It counts your steps, tracks how far you go, and estimates calories burned. The app also works with other fitness gadgets, like Nike’s FuelBand.

7. Daily Yoga Poses

This app has many videos available and can be helpful to beginners and people with a few years of experience.

A wide range of poses are covered, some familiar and some more advanced. Poses are practiced slowly so that you can focus on form and breathing.

Each video is 5 minutes long but can combine multiple short sequences into longer workouts.

You can filter these locations by type, like yoga. If you want to work out at home, hundreds of YouTube videos from fitness gurus partnered with Sweat are available on YouTube.

And if you don’t have time for a full-length video, check out their Sweatcoin feature. For every minute you exercise through Sweat, you earn one sweatcoin (think FitBit rewards).
