Tyler was born on the 6th of March 1991 in California. Tyler paternal roots can be traced to an Igbo descents in Nigeria and his maternal roots to mixed African-American and European-Canadian descents.

He had a troubled childhood which can be traced to an absentee father whom he never knew. Tyler grew up in Ladera Height, Hawthorne together with his mother and sister.

Tyler’s educational journey was not an easy one as he kept changing school every year within Los Angeles and Sacramento. The number of schools he attended are up to 12 and he was known to be a loner, shy and withdrawn student.

Tyler started off as a FedEX staff for short period of 2 weeks and subsequently gained employment as a Starbucks staff for few years. After doing odd jobs with no true satisfaction, he decided to turn his gear to become a professional music artist.

In 2007 Tyler together with Hodgy, Left Brain and Casey Veggies co-founded an alternative hip hop collective called “Odd Future”.

In November 2008, Tyler and his friends collaborated together and dropped their first mixtape, “The Odd Future Tape”.

In 2009 Tyler dropped his first mixtape “Bastard”, his mixtape became No. 32 on the Pitchfork Media’s’ Top Album list for the year 2010.

On 11th February, 2011, Tyler dropped the music video “Yonkers”. The video got a lot of attention on social media. This lead to the creation of an extension version with a third verse on iTunes. Tyler’s exceptional talents in the “Yonkers” made him emerged as the winner of Best New Artist at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

However, Tyler’s themes and lyrics in his two solo projects (Bastard and Yonkers) made his fans and publications to perceived him as a horror hip hop artist which he strongly denies.

Tyler and Odd Future started gaining attention of iconic stars in the likes of Jay-Z, Rick Ross and many others. They finally got signed under Red Distribution/Sony in April 2011.

On the 10th of May, 2011 Tyler dropped his first album titled “Goblin”. On September 8th of the same year, Tyler and his team started a 15 minutes live-action show, made up of variety of sketches, man on the street segments, pranks and music made by his team.

In 2012, Tyler set off another show Loiter Squad which was streamed from 2012 up till 2014. The show had some celebrities appearance in the likes of Johnny Knoxville, Lil Wayne and Seth Rogen.

In 2013, Tyler other with Odd Future released an album “Wolf” on the 2nd of April under Sony Music Entertainment. In the same year Tyler toured around North America and Europe.

What is a celebrity’s life without controversies? Tyler was arrested on March 2014 for starting a riot after encouraging fans to push their way past security guards at his South by Southwest performance.

Tyler faced up to a year in prison and a $4000 fine but the charges were dropped as his lawyer, Perry Minton, argued that the riot penalties were exaggerated and portrayed misconceptions of his client who had no previous arrests.

In 2015, Tyler dropped another album titled “Cherry Bomb” featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Schoolboy Q. This album was also supported by his tours from North America, Europe and Asia.

However, Tyler Cherry Bomb tour was cancelled in Australia due to his misogynistic lyrics which was frowned upon by the Australian government. There was also another incident in August of 2015, were he received a 5 years ban from entering the United kingdom due to lyrics in the mixtape “Bastard”. Tyler was of the opinion that his ban was racially ignited.

In June of 2017, Tyler dropped another song “Who Dat Boy” in collaboration with ASAP Rocky on a YouTube channel and his social media accounts. He also dropped his 4th album “FlowerBoy” on the 6th of July. On the 3rd of August 2017, Tyler started off another of his show titled “Nuts + Bolts”, which contains the things he love and ways of creating them.

On 17th of May, 2019 Tyler released another album “Igor” which was ranked as No. 1 on US Billboard 200. This album contains the famous song “Earfquake”, the 13 on Billboard 100. Although Tyler’s early themes were considered as horror hip hop, his lyrics has slowly evolved to love, sexuality, existence and nostalgia in his recent songs.

Tyler has revealed to the public that he gets his inspiration from N.E.R.D and The Neptunes member Pharrell Williams. He also claims Eminem’s album “Relapse” as his best album.
