Umidigi A7: Specifications, Features and Price

The Umidigi A7 smartphone is the younger sibling of the Umidigi A7 Pro, one of the best value king smartphones available in 2020.

I know this because I own the Umidigi A7 Pro smartphone and have enjoyed most of its features.

The Umidigi A7 was released a few months ago. Today, we will look at its specifications, features, and price and maybe explain why you should get one for yourself, too.

The Umidigi A7 is 6.49 inches tall, and at first glance, the front selfie camera on the water drop notch stands out. The speaker grille sits over the camera, and the sensor is placed a little bit to the right on the slim top bezels.

The bottom chin is not too large and helps maintain the smartphone’s structural integrity. The screen has 2.5D glass protection.

On the phone’s rear side, there is a quad camera with a dual LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is placed slightly below the center.

The phone’s rear side also has a 2.5D protective glass covering, making it durable. It also has a durable metal frame.

The Volume and power buttons are on the right side. If you are not used to UMIDIGI devices, you may have a hard time adjusting to the button placements, though.

Like the Umidigi A7 Pro, the top of the A7 does not have any ports, while the base houses the 3.5mm headphone jack, mic, reversible Type C USB Port, and speaker. It is available in midnight green and space grey.

The Umidigi A7 has a larger display than the A7 Pro, at 6.49 inches. The display technology is the full-screen In Cell LTPS Display.

The screen resolution is 1560 x 720 pixels, with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of around 82%.

The Umidigi camera department sure has a way of attracting camera lovers, as it offers specifications that make other entry-level gadgets cry.

The Umidigi A7 has a 16MP selfie 5-element lens. The use of stock Google OS without any modifications means that the selfie camera has no additional features.

The rear camera contains a 16MP 6-element lens Primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro camera with an up-to-pt2CM macro distance.

Those moving from Tecno and Infinix smartphones may have an issue with the Umidigi camera as it offers no additional modifications. However, this can be corrected by using the SnapChat app or the New Google Go Camera.

Notwithstanding, rear camera features include Ultra wide-angle mode, Steady handheld night photography, AI scene detection, Macro mode, Portrait mode, Slow motion video, AI Beautify, Ultra wide-angle edge distortion correction, Dual LED flash, and Face recognition.

Umidigi has tried to keep the A7 balanced, and somehow, the processor performance even looks better than that of the A7 Pro.

The Umidigi A7 pro-octa-core processor features 4 x 2.0GHz/4 x 1.5GHz cores, while the Umidigi A7 has the MediaTek Helio P20 processor, with 4x Cortex-A53, 2.3GHz, and 4x Cortex-A53, 1.64GHz. The graphics processor on this device is the ARM Mali-T880 MP2, with a 900MHz speed.

The memory specifications include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. This device also has a dedicated memory card slot.

The phone should handle Modern Combat, Call of Duty Mobile, and other tasking games, although it will likely get hot afterward.

The Umidigi A7 runs on stock Android 10 Q without any modifications, giving a pure Android experience. There is also a system-wide dark mode available.

Price and Why You Should Buy The Umidigi A7

The Umidigi A7 currently sells for around N43000 on Jumia. I doubt there are other devices around that price range with the insane specifications the Umidigi A7 offers. It also has a good camera, a decent processor, and a battery.
