Apple’s iPhone is the most popular smartphone in the United States. A lot of people are running around with iPhones, but that does not mean that they are all taking good care of these expensive devices in the way they are supposed to.
Sadly, some of the coolest parts of the iPhone’s design are also what makes it vulnerable. Do you know that cool glass screen? Yeah, it can break. Did you notice the slim design? Not necessarily the sturdiest. Having an iPhone is cool, but it can also be a little burden. You have to take care of it like every other cool gadget.
Be cool, and we can help with that. Here is what you need to know about taking care of your valuable iPhone.
Should you get an extended warranty?
You can protect your iPhone with warranties. Apple’s AppleCare product is a solid option for instance, and individual retailers may also offer warranties of their own.
Is a warranty right for you? Well, that depends. If it makes you feel secure and relaxed why not, get your iPhone covered. But you should make sure that you know exactly what your warranty does and does not cover.
Not even Apple’s AppleCare covers everything, and if you mistreat your device, you are going to be very unhappy when you find out that that exact damage is not included.
Invest in a screen protector or a case
The iPhone is an excellent looking device, but there is a reason that so many people cover up theirs with strong protective cases. If you drop your iPhone, you are going to be needing a nice solid case around it when you do.
A screen protector is a must for every iPhone user. It makes the screen of the device to be durable and absorbs the surface scratching and chipping that would otherwise damage the screen itself. It’s a whole lot easier to replace a screen protector than to replace an entire screen!
How strong should your case be? That depends on how much action your phone is going to see, and you know what I mean. But do not be afraid to buy more than one because it’s a bad idea to wrap out your hip, slim case for a big rubber one when you are going hiking or doing something that might put your phone at high risk of falling or hitting something.
Think about the specific features that you might need. Does it make any sense to get a waterproof case or should you spend more on getting extra padding?
Get your iPhone repaired properly
It doesn’t matter how careful you are or might be, and you will someday find yourself with a broken iPhone. But that should not put you in a panic room, at least not yet. You still have options.
You should visit an iPhone repair specialist who has been certified by Apple or those that know exactly what they are doing. But that doesn’t mean that you have to go to the Apple Store.
Private repair companies may offer lower prices on the same expert repair work that you would get from Apple stores. On top of that, you might even get the work done faster when you get out of that long Genius Bar line and head to someone who is more accountable to local customers.
Again, you want to turn to certified experts a null advised attempt at a do-it-yourself repair might cause more damage to your device and would almost render your warranties void and might also render your iPhone useless because Apple hates it when you try to indulge in stuff yourself.
But be sure to shop around and check out the private local shops, which offers superior repair services along with friendly customer service and prices that won’t feel quite so much like Apple.
