Coronavirus has been one of the highest global threats the world economy had faced, as it affects both the rich and the poor.
Even the wealthiest people are not unscathed from this pandemic as it had caused some of them to lose their spot in the Forbes list of the wealthiest people.
Forbes recently published a report of the world’s wealthiest people, which showed that there are about 2,095 billionaires in the world. This means there is a reduction of 227 people from the list.
These 2,095 billionaires have a net worth of $8 trillion, and this is $700 billion less than what they had in 2019. Coming up with an accurate list of wealthiest people was not easy for Forbes due to the market fluctuations caused by Corona.
This sudden changes in the business world made the net worth of each billionaire to fluctuate every day, so Forbes came up with the idea of real-time net worth tracking that would make it easy to know what each billionaire had at every point in time.
The report showed a significant reduction of 267 people who use to be billionaires and an addition of 178 people who reached the status of the billionaire in the year 2020. It also showed that the U.S had the most number of billionaires with a number of 614.
China, Macao, and Hong Kong have about 456 billionaires. Below are the 20 billionaires who made it to Forbes 20 wealthiest people in the world in 2021.
