Hello guys, so today I decided to do a comparison between the RedMi Note 9 Max Vs Tecno Camon 15 Premier.
Both devices were released recently as the top of their series flagship competing in the Midrange market segment.
Introduction
First a little info on their parent companies; Xiaomi has been trying to break into the Nigerian market for a while now and they have churned out some couples of devices in the past that dominated global markets.
The company has slowly gathered momentum with its RedMi brand in a market dominated by Transsion Holdings’ brand Tecno and Infinix.
Tecno is a household brand in Nigeria, has been in the market for a very long time. It is always one of the brands considered by many people due to the availability of spare parts and cheaper prices.
While loved by many, many tech-oriented users have grown tired of their devices mainly due to the absence of OS upgrades.

RedMi Note 9 Max Vs Tecno Camon 15 Premier: Design
The RedMi Note 9 Max leads the way for the Note 9 series with its Aura Balance design that aims to make everything symmetrical. The front has a slim frame that holds the speaker grille and LED flash. There is a punch hole cut out for the Selfie Camera. The chin is also small and the front is protected with the Gorilla Glass 5.
The back holds centralized camera modules with room for 4 camera sensors on a circular square format. The back is also protected too by the Gorilla Glass 5. An LED flash follows.
The fingerprint sensor is side mounted on the right. There is also an Infrared blaster, USB Type C, two dedicated MIC with noise-canceling, and P2i coating to provide splash/spill resistance.
The Tecno Camon 15 Premier comes with a smooth front design, leaving much viewing space since the Camera has been changed to the Mechanical pop-up camera.
The bottom chin is also slim too. The speaker was moved to the frame too. Tecno did not mention any form of protection but the front panel is suspected to have Gorilla Glass 3.
The rear side of the phone also holds a quad-camera module arranged in a vertical manner and the fingerprint sensor is centrally mounted right next to it. There is no form of liquid resistance and it comes with the USB 2.0.
While the pop up camera may give more space without obstructions, the RedMi clearly dominated the design segment.

Hardware Specifications
The Redmi Note 9 Max has is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC made with 8nm fabrication. The octa-core chip has 2 x 2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver. The maximum clock speed is 2.3GHz. The smartphone uses the Adreno 618 GPU with its speed clocked at 750MHz
The Tecno Camon 15 Premier uses the MediaTek Helio P35 Octacore processor (12nm). The SoC is clocked at 2.35GHz (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53). In the graphics processing department, there is the PowerVR GE8320 with speed clocked at 650MHz
While the RedMi Note 9 Max has better battery efficiency due to its 8nm Fabrication, the Tecno Camon 15 Premier outperforms it with faster processor speed. Though this may consume battery faster. In gaming, the RedMi may outperform the Camon since the PowerVR GE8320 GPU is not built for heavy gaming.
Memory options are 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Tecno Camon 15 Premier clearly dominates this department with a faster processor thus making its performance better based on specifications.
OS, Battery
RedMi Note 9 Max phone runs Android 10 shipped under the MIUI11 skin. Tecno Camon 15 Premier also runs Android 10 under the HiOS 6. Both devices have ads and bloatware though Xiaomi’s gesture tweaks are top notched.
Another drawback of the Tecno Camon 15 Premier is that there is no guaranteed upgrade to Android 11 whereas, Xiaomi always provides software upgrades to the next version of Andriod.
Redmi ships a 5020mAH battery with this device. It comes with an 18W fast charge. The USB type C connectivity ensures fast data connectivity. The Camon 15 Premier ships with a 4000mAH battery to provide power. No mention of fast charge anywhere and it uses USB 2.0
The Redmi dominates this space.
Conclusion
Giving the specifications listed out and the comparison, the RedMi did dominate in different spaces except in the performance department where the Tecno dominated. If given the chance to pick between both devices, which will you choose? let us know by dropping a comment.
