With a 7-inch touchscreen display with a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution and a gaming laptop-style design, the One Netbook OneGx1 is an affordable and portable laptop computer.
The computer has a backlit keyboard with RGB lighting effects, dual fans with a large exhaust vent on the back, and a backlit LED light ring on the front.
The OneGX1 was created to work with a set of optional gaming controllers that attach to the edges of the computer, allowing you to play while holding the computer in your hands.
How Much Does the OneGx1 Cost?
The One Netbook OneGx1 is currently available on Amazon at a starting price of $1, 400.
However, a few things to consider before reaching for your wallet. The first is that the entry-level model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of PCIe NVMe storage.
You’ll have to spend extra for cellular connectivity or greater RAM and storage. The removable game controllers are also an additional expense.
The second consideration is that, while the OneGx1 has the appearance of a gaming laptop, it lacks the computing capability of one.
When One Netbook revealed its plans to make a gaming laptop, it promised a device featuring an 11th-generation Intel Core “Tiger Lake” processor and Intel XE graphics.
However, certain chips are not yet available. Rather than wait, the company sold a model with an Intel Core i5-10210Y “Amber Lake” CPU from the 10th generation.
It’s a quad-core, 7-watt CPU with Intel UHD graphics and 24 execution units.

What Games Can Run on the OneGx1?
When it comes to key computing activities, the CPU can handle most of them.
Lightweight games like Celeste, Pikuniku, and Night in the Woods run without a hitch on the system.
Gamers should expect close to 60 frames per second in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, on the other hand, could only run at a frame rate of approximately 5 to 7 frames per second (with the screen resolution set to 1280 x 720 pixels and at the lowest graphics settings).
Are There Other Models of OneGx1?
One Netbook never gave up on its Tiger Lake design. The company released the OneGX1 Pro model with the same design as the original.
Still, it included Intel XE graphics with 96 execution units, which helps bridge the performance gap between this little laptop and its competition.
Features and Design
The OneGx1 is a small laptop by laptop standards, but it’s a little larger than other contemporary mini-laptops with similar display sizes, which makes it a good choice for travelers.
This is due to the enormous exhaust fans in the vehicle’s rear. The little PC included within one Netbook measures approximately 6.8′′ x 5.4′′ x 0.8′′ and weighs approximately 1.4 pounds.
However, while the rest of the computer’s chassis is metal, the black component on the back is made entirely of plastic.
It’s too big to fit in a pocket, but it won’t take up much space in a backpack or handbag.
Controller
The grooves on the bottom of the laptop have been designed to accommodate the removable game controllers.
Snap the controller into place, then raise it until it is securely in place. This will allow you to hold the PC in the air with only the two controllers.
However, you may notice some wobbling unless you rest your hands on your lap or a flat surface like a table to reduce shaking.
Because, even though they are physically attached to the laptop’s sides, these Bluetooth controllers are designed to support three different modes of operation:
- PC/PS3 controller mode
- Xbox 360 controller mode
- L-HID and R-HID individual controller mode
One Netbook appears to have attempted to include a set of Nintendo Switch Joy-con-style controllers, despite the fact that PC games aren’t usually built to work with those controllers instead of the standard ones.
Touchscreen
Since the optical touch sensor beneath the keyboard is inconvenient, the touchscreen is extremely handy in this situation.
It’s in a spot where a trackpad would generally be on a larger laptop, which is convenient.
However, because there isn’t enough room for a touchpad, you’re given a little rectangle instead of a traditional touchpad to drag your finger around on.
There are left and right buttons on either side of the screen. Compared to other pointing devices, utilizing the touchscreen or connecting an external mouse or other pointing device is usually far more convenient.
Keyboard
The keyboard, on the other hand, is a bit of a hit-or-miss. There’s not enough capacity for a full-sized keyboard layout on mini-laptops, as is typically the case.
As a result, One Netbook made several compromises. Some keys are more compact than others.
And some characters aren’t quite where you’d expect to find them. Backlighting and RGB lighting effects are supported on the keyboard.
By pressing Fn+Space, you may turn on or off the backlight, and by pressing Fn+Enter, you can cycle between different lighting effects, such as a gradient across the keyboard, a wave of colors, or a solid color.
In solid color mode, pressing Fn+Back toggles the color of all keys. You can also alter the colors of individual keyboard zones by pressing Fn plus the A, W, S, and D keys together.
Performance
The computer’s 7-watt processor isn’t exactly a speed demon. It is a 1 GHz quad-core chip capable of attaining peak turbo rates of up to 4 GHz and delivering adequate sustained performance.
Although the chip’s TDP is 7 watts, it can operate at 2 to 15 watts, depending on the task I’m asking the computer to complete.
Alternatively, hold the Fn and Insert keys (located in the upper right-hand corner of the keyboard) together or the Fn+touch sensor toggle key together to switch modes (in the upper right corner of the keyboard).
On a single Netbook, three different power/fan settings are available:
- Mute Mode – Fn + Insert (a second time, and the power button turns lighter blue)
- Normal Mode – Fn + Insert (power button turns blue)
- Performance Mode – Fn+ touchpad (power button LED light turns yellow)
Even in mute mode, the fan does not turn off fully.
However, it runs considerably more silently, and the processor uses less power, which may impact performance when playing games or performing other resource-intensive chores.
The OneGx1 is also capable of online browsing, document editing, video playing in 1080p (or greater), and various other non-gaming functions.
Battery Life
The OneGx1 includes a 46.2 Wh battery and a processor that runs at 7 watts. As a result, the smartphone has quite a long battery life (under some conditions).
If you switched off the wireless capabilities and watched a local film, you might have a little more time.
However, when you use the small laptop in other ways, you’ll get much less run time.
