Early life
Folarin Falana was born to his parents in the local government area of Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria, on October 27th, 1990.
His father, Folarin Falana, Sr, is a well-known lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) while his mother, Funmi Falana, was also a renowned lawyer and human rights activist.
Falz attended and completed his primary at St. Leo’s Catholic Primary School, Ikeja, and his secondary school Olashore International School, Osun State.
He furthered his studies and obtained an LLB honors degree in Law from the University of Reading England. In 2012, he was called to bar after he had graduated from the Nigeria Law School in Abuja.
Falz kicked off his music career after he had formed a group with his friends named “The School Boys” when he was in secondary school. This ignited the spark in him, and the passion he developed for music drove him to start his professional music career in 2009.

In 2009, Falz released some of his recordings compiled as a mixtape called “Shakara: The Mixtape.” In 2011, a hit single by Falz titled “Was Up Guy” was released, and subsequently, other of his hit singles “High Class” and “Currency” was released as well, and this helped him stand out in the industry.
