We are good into March, and although we already have had some exceptional releases hitting the cinema this year, there are so many more to come especially for the kids.
It’s the year for them, most certainly. So many new installments into even our all-time favorite movies, so we are as excited as you are.
If you can catch a show in the cinema then what’s better than that? Let’s dive into the upcoming kids movie releases this year and all that you should be looking forward to.
1. Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Release Date: 8th April 2022
Sonic the Hedgehog fans from 2020’s film is already guessing who will star in the sequel: Tails and Knuckles! Doctor Eggman has Knuckles on his side, so Sonic and Tails must work together to stop him from stealing Master Emerald.
2. The Bad Guys
Release Date: 22nd April 2022
The Bad Guys is another upcoming kids movie that is based on Aaron Blabey’s Scholastic book series about five animal outlaws; Mr. Wolf, Ms. Tarantula, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, and Mr. Shark, who were never really given any chance at something other than being criminals, but now they are on their way to all good.
3. Lightyear
Release Date: 17th June 2022
That Buzz Lightyear? Um, no; but yes in a way. This film depicts the exploits of the real-life Space Ranger character who inspired Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear toy.
It is expected to be like the movie that Andy may have seen in the Toy Story universe that might have made him want a Buzz Lightyear figurine.
4. Minions: Rise Of Gru
Release Date: 1st July 2022
This film was supposed to be released in July of 2020, but it has already been pushed back two years.
And, while nothing is guaranteed, it appears that this will be released in cinemas in summer 2022, followed by a Peacock run a few months after.
When it is released, it will follow Gru in the 1970s as he begins his journey to villainy and how he meets up with the Minions.
5. DC League Of Super-Pets
Release Date: 29th July 2022
The Justice League is in peril, and it’s up to Superman’s dog Krypto to enlist the support of other super-powered dogs.
Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle, and Chip the squirrel are recruited to establish their heroic group by him. Krypto’s voice will be provided by the most loved The Rock. (Dwayne Johnson)
6. Puss In Boots: The Last Wish
Release Date: 23rd September 2022
We haven’t seen Puss in Boots in over a decade, but he’s still looking for adventure.
The well-shod feline has used up most of his nine lives in this, so he sets off on a quest to obtain a wish that will restore them. So the grown-ups now who missed Puss in Boots are in for a treat too.
7. Spellbound
Release Date: 11th November 2022
Do you have some strife in your home and you are looking for some inspiration (coming on a little later by the way) then this is the one not to miss.
Elian, who is stuck in between her kingdom’s warring energies of light and dark, may resonate with your children. Elian will have to use her magical abilities to reunite the realm once more.
8. Mario
Release Date: 21st December 2022
Chris Pratt plays Mario, Charlie Day plays Luigi, and Anya Taylor-Joy plays Princess Peach, and they’ll be joined by comedians Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen, among others, in this animated Super Mario version.
Before we catch this movie, we shall be doing a Super Mario gaming marathon, just for the sake of it.
