2019’s Most Underrated Movies That Deserve More Attention

PaddletonPin

Hundreds of new movies are released yearly; some are always highly anticipated, like those from our favorite Marvel Universe franchise.

However, some movies have not done well at the box office, even though they have everything it takes to be among the year’s top films.

So, if you’re a movie enthusiast like myself and all you do in your free time is watch movies, then the movies below are some of the best released in 2019 but did not get as much hype as they deserve.

One thing I have realized about movies that do not get as much publicity as they deserve is that amongst them are some of the best storylines you can ever see.

This is one reason why you do not have to look down on them; you can watch anyone recommended by a trusted movie lover.

Even though the movies below have been categorized as the most dissipated once in 2019, i am sure that by the time you’re done watching them, you would want to have a re-watch as many times as possible.

1. Paddleton

Paddleton is a comedy-drama movie that tells the story of two neighbors after a sick one was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. Ray Romano and Mark Duplass played the two lead roles.

The film premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and is now available on Netflix. Surprisingly, this movie did not get good reviews, but fans loved it, which means it deserves a chance with you.

2. High Flying Bird

The incredible thing about this film is that it was entirely filmed on an iPhone. And if you must know, this is not the first movie by Steven Soderbergh to be shot in this manner. If you’re a sports lover, this sporting drama is one that you will find interesting.

It is about which of the three choices made available to sports agent Ray Burke (who was played by Andre Holland) will produce.

This sports agent would have to choose between his commitment to a football client, an opportunity to question everything people know about the NBA, and a chance that comes once in a lifetime to move up the ladder of his career.

I am a huge fan of basketball, so I am going to give this movie a try ( I already have).

3. Greta

Greta is a fantastic psychological thriller. It first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, but its theatrical premiere was held on March 1, 2019.

The movie is about young Frances (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) and her new friendship with a French piano teacher named Gerta (played by Isabelle Huppert).

In the movie, Isabel has recently lost her mother, so she decides to begin a new friendship with the lonely widow.

Nevertheless, when Frances notices that Greta has become obsessed with her, she chooses to protect herself by breaking up her friendship with her before things take a turn for the worse. This movie will keep you glued to your seat until it’s over.

4. Fighting With My Family

They say laughter is the best medicine, so you must watch this biographical sports comedy-drama.

The story illustrates the career of professional wrestler Saraya Paige Knight (Florence Pugh).

This movie describes Paige’s life from a young age to a competitive training program that forces her to fight to prove her worth and get a spot in the WWE universe. It is based on a 2012 documentary titled The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family.

5. The Breaker-uppers

When you talk about romantic comedy, this is one film that you definitely should see. This film will be taken on a journey with two cynical friends named Mel, played by (Madeleine Sami), and Jen (Jackie van Beek), who decided to set up an agency to break up couples while they try to avoid their troubles.

Amazingly, the New Zealand actresses who took on the lead roles in this movie were the same people who wrote and directed the film.

6. Ruben Brandt, Collector

Ruben Brandt, the Collector, is a Hungarian cartoon directed by Milorad Krstic. This animated movie is worth watching mainly because it follows the journey of a cycle therapist named Ruben Brandt, who Ivan Kamaras voiced.

This psychotherapist learns how to become a painting thief as he begins to steal a total of 13 paintings to stop the nightmares that were inspired by famous works of art that have been hurting him ever since his childhood years.

Ruben Brandt and his friends, who are also patients—computer wiz Fernando, kleptomaniac Mimi, bodyguard Bye Bye Joe, and bank robber Membrano Bruno—will have to travel to five popular museums in different parts of the world.

The museums they visited included the Louver, the Musee d’Orsay, the Tate, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Moma. As they try to achieve their goal, the police do all they can to figure out who the collector of these works of art is.

Many other amazing movies were not advertised on billboards or posters worldwide; however, these are just a few that I have found worth watching and decided to share with you.

So, while heading to the nearest cinema to get tickets to see the movies you have anticipated, do not forget that you can stream or download them and watch them in your spare time.

If other films came out this year but were on the anticipated like the ones I have shared, and you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to leave a comment in the comment section provided below so that other people can watch these fantastic movies too.
