Box Office Mojo reports that the film only made back about $7 million of its $27 million budget.
It’s been over 15 years since we last saw Statham and Ritchie in a film together.
Starring Statham, the film follows the protagonist as he becomes entangled with vicious gangsters and loan sharks while coping with a mysterious deadly disease that leaves him only three days to live.
The plot is a cluttered mess that requires a lot of backstories and narrated present-tense exposition to make sense of.
Peter Hartlaub, a film critic, called the picture an onslaught of Psycho babble and headed his review to Ritchie’s.’
Revolver loses the bet with a confusing plot. Aside from being patronizingly obvious one minute and impenetrable the next, he said the film was confusing.
2. Ghosts of Mars (2001)

Although Carpenter’s signature gore and eerie atmosphere are present, action and science fiction elements take center stage here.
The plot involves a team of police officers from Mars who are sent to the future to carry a wanted criminal.
They have trouble with the villagers possessed by the title Ghosts of Mars.
Ice Cube, Natasha Henstridge, Jason Statham, Clea DuVall, and Pam Grier comprise the primary cast.
Since this 2001 bomb, Carpenter has only directed one other picture, the horror flick The Ward in 2010.
According to reviews, John Carpenter could have been at his creative best in Ghosts of Mars.
According to critic Marc Savlov, the picture is “like witnessing a John Carpenter greatest-hits reel done by a rank novice.
3. Killer Elite (2011)

This action picture starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert De Niro is based on a book by Ranulph Fiennes called The Feather Men, albeit the integrity of both the film and the book have been called into question.
In addition to Yvonne Strahovski and Dominic Purcell, the cast includes Ben Mendelssohn.
Owen’s character, the commander of a shadowy gang of SAS agents, pits himself against the elite mercenaries played by Statham and De Niro in a role similar to that of a mentor.
The plot’s expansive scope includes the protagonists’ travels throughout the globe, but they need to experience more action to win over reviewers or average moviegoers, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
The action in Killer Elite is adequate, but critic Nicholas Bell considered the picture disappointing overall, calling it poorly conceived in every other element, most notably the dreadful storyline.
4. Mechanic: Resurrection (2016)

Following the first film’s events, Bishop pretended to die and fled to Rio de Janeiro.
After his true identity is revealed, Bishop is sent to three different continents to execute assassination attempts.
The original picture was a remake of a Charles Bronson action movie from the 1970s, and this sequel shares very few similarities with its predecessor.
Tommy Lee Jones is one of the assassination targets, and Michelle Yeoh plays Bishop’s buddy who operates a resort in Thailand.
Jessica Alba plays the kidnapped lady Bishop is in love with. Unfortunately, the plot and action scenes in this film were panned by critics.
“Woefully repetitive, unfocused, forced, and plagued with formulaic sharp-shooting pranks,” Frank Ochieng wrote in his picture assessment.
5. Wild Card (2015)

With an estimated $30 million production cost, Wild Card was a huge financial failure compared to their previous films working together.
This Las Vegas-based action film stars Jason Statham as a bodyguard and gambling addict.

This could account for the extended time that passed between the release of films three and four in the series.
For their third outing, the core Expendables cast is back together with the help of several new, recognizable faces.
An already large roster of action stars expanded significantly with the additions of Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, and Ronda Rousey.
This time around, Mel Gibson’s character, an arms dealer, is the bad guy the Expendables must defeat.
After the first two films in the series were rated R and contained plenty of brutal violence, this sequel turned some franchise fans off because it toned down the action scenes and language to get a PG-13 rating.
7. Mean Machine (2001)

The inmates and the guards face off on the football field in this 2001 English thriller.
In this version, European football is substituted for American football, and the film was released only a few years before the Adam Sandler-led version of the same story.
Statham’s previous vehicle films, Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, were produced by the same crew that worked on Mean Machine, including director Guy Ritchie, who served as an executive producer.
Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, Vas Blackwood, Robbie Gee, and Jason Flemyng appeared in Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Therefore the cast was a huge reunion from those prior films.
The attempt to recapture the magic of those earlier films was well-received by audiences as a whole but not by Rotten Tomatoes critics.
8. Parker (2013)

In a villainous turn, Michael Chiklis heads Parker’s old group, and Jennifer Lopez teams up with Parker to exact her vengeance in a supporting role.
While Parker is alright, it also doesn’t shine in any particular area.
The majority of reviewers said that Parker, one of Jason Statham movies, was boring and unoriginal. To a greater extent than any other aspect, the script was panned by reviewers.
Reviewer Mike Massie referred to the plot as severely lacking in inventiveness, and Richard Propes of The Independent Critic said John J. McLaughlin’s script is hilariously poor.
9. Transporter 3

In this sequel, Natalya Rudakova plays a woman with ties to dangerous criminals, and Jason Statham reprises his role as the courier tasked with transporting and protecting her.
The premise of the third Transporter film revolves around the explosive bracelets that Statham and Rudakova’s characters are obliged to wear.
Louis Leterrier, the director of the first two Transporter movies, returned for the third.
The director’s chair was taken over by Olivier Megaton, who has only directed bad movies like Columbiana and the Taken sequels.
His most recent picture received a perfect 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it part of a small yet exclusive club.
Notwithstanding its flaws, Transporter 3 is Megaton’s highest-grossing film to date, and its action sequences have won over at least some critics.
10. Death Race (2008)

Future inmates in this science fiction action film participate in a fatal armored automobile race shown on national television.
If he wins, Statham’s character would be released from prison, so he offers to compete as the most famous racer in the sport—Frankenstein, played by David Carradine in the 1975 film.
Although critics didn’t well receive Death Race, one of Jason Statham movies, it was profitable enough to spawn several reboots, sequels, and spinoffs over the next decade, the most recent of which was Death Race: Beyond Anarchy, released in 2018.
Critic Brandy McDonnell said Paul W.S. Anderson gets a far better cast than he deserves for the crash-and-bang spectacle, about the ensemble cast including Statham and Clarke, Allen, McShane, and Gibson.

11. Homefront (2013)

He gets involved with the local drug-selling mobster (James Franco) and must rely on his experience as a former DEA agent to safeguard his daughter.
Despite its apparent simplicity, the plot is based on Chuck Logan’s novel of the same name. In place of novel frigid Minnesota, the film takes place in the steamy bayou.
The movie can be enjoyed independently, but the novel is the capstone of a six-part series following the man Statham portrays in Phil Broker.
The film Homefront was produced and adapted by Sylvester Stallone, who also penned the screenplay.
Before this, in the first two Expendables movies, Stallone and Statham had already established a productive working relationship.

It includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Jet Li, Eric Roberts, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, and even cameos from Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Sylvester Stallone directed and co-wrote The Expendables alongside Dave Callaham, a screenwriter whose credits include Godzilla, Wonder Woman 1984, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and the future Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse films.
Though the original Expendables film was not well received by critics (only 39% on Rotten Tomatoes), it was a huge financial success (almost $274 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo) with audiences.
13. The Meg (2018)

Ken Bruen’s work of the same name inspired this story. While being the fourth in a series of seven books about the same character, Blitz can be enjoyed as a self-contained film.
In 2007, the screenplay adaptation was included on the Black List, a compilation of the year’s best-unproduced screenplays as chosen by Hollywood producers.
Although studio executives may have well received the screenplay, the finished picture failed to win over audiences and reviewers.
Critic Philip French of The Guardian found the film inferior to the police procedurals you can see any night on television.
15. Redemption (2013)

Critics were generally positive toward the picture because of its endeavor to portray a more nuanced and emotional story than the typical action film it is compared to.
Brian Tallerico, writing for The Hollywood Reporter, considered the film’s potential to be enticing but ultimately unfulfilled, Almost successful Redemption.
There are a lot of great individual scenes and moments, but director Steven Knight cannot weave them together into a satisfying whole. He isn’t quite there, but he gets very close.
Steven Knight, who wrote and directed Redemption, one of Jason Statham movies, has an excellent filmography that includes Eastern Promises, Spencer, and Locke, the latter of which he also directed.
While his normal screenwriting efforts and Locke have been well received by critics and viewers alike, Redemption and his only other directorial credit, Serenity, have been met with largely negative reviews and low box office returns.

He also worked with Keith David, François Berléand, and Kate Nauta as the film’s standout antagonist Lola.
This psychopathic gang leader has a personal obsession with Frank and carries a dual submachine gun.
Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen wrote the sequel, directed by Louis Leterrier, who also directed the first film in the Transporter series.
However, the original film’s co-director, the Hong Kong martial arts actor and filmmaker Corey Yuen, was noticeably absent.
17. The Mechanic (2011)

The Charles Bronson film The Mechanic from 1972 was remade in 2011 as “The Mechanic.”

Statham’s character seeks vengeance after Donald Sutherland’s mentor is murdered. His mentor’s son (Ben Foster) is also out for blood, but he’s a much more explosive force and less experienced assassin, and the two eventually come into conflict.
In The Mechanic, one of Jason Statham movies, Jason Statham and Simon West worked together for the first time.
In 2015, they reunited for Wild Card, and the year after that, they worked together on The Expendables 2.
West’s previous work includes the action films Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
There was general agreement among reviewers that The Mechanic could have done better but didn’t do much to set itself apart from other films.
Roger Ebert questioned the generic plot, and Rafer Guzman of Newsday called it a tough-guy movie for wimps.
18. Gnomeo & Juliet (2011)

This animated version of the classic tale is not about the Montagues and the Capulets but rather about the Blueburys and the Redbricks, two families of garden gnomes.
The impressive roster of A-listers providing their voices for Gnomeo & Juliet is a strong selling factor.
Many famous actors and actresses lend their voices to the many garden gnomes in the film, including James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Jason Statham, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan, Stephen Merchant, Dolly Parton, Patrick Stewart, Julie Walters, Jim Cummings, and Matt Lucas.
Even though more than half of the critics who reviewed Gnomeo & Juliet on Rotten Tomatoes thought it was worthwhile, at least for younger audiences, the film nonetheless received a negative rating because a 60% approval rating is needed to earn a fresh rating.
19. Cellular (2004)

She mends the device just enough to make one call, but instead of reaching the cops, she ends up on the phone of a Chris Evans–played college student.
William H. Macy also appears in the film as a police investigator who investigates the kidnapping.
Cellular was created by Larry Cohen and Chris Morgan, who may seem like an odd writing duo.
Famous for his work on B-movie classics like Maniac Cop, The Stuff, and It’s Alive; Cohen is a true master of the genre.
Statham joined the Fast & Furious franchise long after Chris Morgan had begun working on the films in that franchise. Morgan’s debut screenplay was Cellular.
David R. Ellis, director of Cellular and other films such as Snakes on a Plane and Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 4, is well-known in the horror genre.
Ellis has directed a few films, although his career as a stunt actor, stunt coordinator, and second-unit director is vast, including work on such blockbusters as The Matrix Reloaded, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and Lethal Weapon.
20. Chaos (2005)

Critics generally agreed that Safe, one of Jason Statham movies, was an exciting action film that didn’t stand out from the crowd.
It was serviceable in its typical presentation, uncomplicated tale, and generic feel but never rose to excellence.
Critics that gave Safe positive reviews were careful to note that the movie doesn’t achieve anything particularly groundbreaking; for example, Jamie Neish of CineVue called it a largely by-the-numbers, though surprisingly compelling and exciting thriller.
