Fantastic Beasts Movies in Order
1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)
- Director: David Yates
- Actors: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler
The first installment in our list of Fantastic Beasts Movies In Order, Fantastic Beasts, and Where to Find Them is a spin-off and a prelude to the Harry Potter film series.
It takes us to a new era in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, decades before Harry Potter and Half the World.
In 1926, in New York, something mysterious left a trail of destruction, threatening to expose the witch community to the highly zealous No-Majs (Americans for Muggles), who were determined to eradicate them.
And after causing significant damage in Europe, black magician Gellert Grindelwald is nowhere to be found.
The magician Newt Scamander arrives in town at the end of a global expedition to explore and save magical creatures, some of which are protected in his unwritten leather bag.
The careless No-Maj Jacob Kowalski releases some of Newt’s animals in town – a severe breach of the Privacy Statement that former Auror Tina Goldstein jumped at, seeing an opportunity to regain her position.
However, things change dramatically when Percival Graves, the mysterious Director of Magical Security, makes his allegations to Newt and Tina.
Now, the collaborators, Newt and Tina, and Tina’s sisters, Queenie and Jacob, form a team of impossible heroes who must restore Newt’s lost animals.
The pins are higher than they thought, as their goal puts them in a position to clash with the dark forces that can push the wizarding and No-Maj worlds to the brink of war.
2. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
- Director: David Yates
- Actors: Eddie Redmayne, Johnny Depp, Katherine Waterston
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald follows Fantastic Beasts and Where You Can Find Them (2016).
Incorporating the idea of Wizarding World creator J.K. Rowling comes with a series of films, Fantastic Beasts, which feature magical events set before the time of Harry Potter.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is captured by the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) with the aid of Newt Scamander.
But Grindelwald, doing well in his threats, escaped the cell and began to gather fans, not suspecting anything of his real agenda: raising pure-blood witches to control all non-magical creatures.
To disrupt Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore induces his former student, Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of future dangers.
Lines are drawn in a divided world of witches as loyalty and love are strained, even among friends and family.
