Big Sean Early Life
Born to James and Myra Anderson in Santa Monica, California on the 25th day of March 1988; Sean Michael Leonard Anderson is the grandson of the first black to serve as a captain in the U. S army by name Mildred Leonard.
Three months after his birth, Big Sean’s mother had to relocate to Michigan, where she raised her 3 months old son with the help of Mildred; Big Sean’s grandmother. He graduated from Cass Technical High school with a second-class upper degree.

Big Sean’s dexterity in making musical rhymes was discovered in his high school days, where he used to take part in rap battle organized by WHTD, a hip-hop station in Detroit, Michigan.
Big Sean, when he heard he got to hear that Kanye West was on an interview in a radio station, Big Sean had to rush to the station to meet with Kanye West. His meeting Kanye West was for him (Kanye West) to hear him rap.
Though reluctant, West later gave Big Sean a chance to prove himself of which he did, indeed Kanye West was impressed with his rap skills which propelled him to sign Big Sean two years later, into his Good Time Music record label.
Big Sean released his first mixtape in 2007, after signing up for Good Time Music, titled Finally Famous. The tape contained the hit song ‘Get’cha some’ which became a hit ;catching the attention of Detroit Metro Times and the Source.
He released the video of the hit song ‘Get’cha some’ which was directed by Hype Williams. On the 16th day of April 2009 Big Sean released his second mixtape, which he named ‘UnknownBigsean’ which contained thirty tracks, including ‘Supa Dupa’, and ‘Million Dolars’.
A year after the release of the second mixtape ‘UnknownBigSean’, his third mixtape Finally Famous volume 3, which featured many reputable artist like Drake, Tyga, Bun, Mike posner; was released. This time, the volume 3 had only twenty tracks.
In 2010, the track ‘Made’, which featured popular act Drake; was leaked on the internet. This made Big Sean to be disappointed because according to him, the music and its lyrics was yet to be completed.
Later he confirmed that his first album titled Finally Famous was to be released on the 14th of September, 2010 ;but he later informed the public through his tweeter handle that he was no longer releasing the album but instead it will be released in 2011.
The long awaited Finally Famous album was finally released on the 28 of June 2011. The album produced three hit singles; ‘Marvin and Chardonnay ‘, ‘My Last’, and ‘Dance’ which featured many popular acts like Chris Brown, John Legend, Wiz Khalifa etc.
Big Sean subsequently released his fourth mixtape in 2012, after earlier announcing that he was working hard to produce the mix tape which he named Detroit. Featured in the mixtape were guest artist like, Juicy J, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and many other popular acts.
In 2013, the second studio album of Big Sean, titled Hall of Fame was released. He later switched to Roc Nation record label Where he signed a management deal.
He also released the ‘I don’t fuck with you’ track amongst other four tracks in September 2014. In 2015, the album ‘dark sky paradise’ which was later certified platinum in 2016, was released. The album made its first appearance in the top 200 billboards, making it Big Sean’s number album.
Big Sean collaborated with Jhene Aiko in 2016 to release ‘twenty88’ album on Spotify and Apple music. Big Sean released his fourth studio album ‘I decided’, which became his second number album on billboard 200 in 2017, the album contained his lead single ‘bounce back’. Big Sean subsequently other album and tracks which were mega hits still 2017.
Big Sean’s first solo single ‘overtime’, which was produced in 2017 was finally released on the 24th of July 2019. During his interview session with Beats 1 Radio, Big Sean stated that he was ‘returning to his roots’.
Big Sean finally released his Detroit 2 album in September 2020. Big Sean also featured Detroit native rapper Eminem as well as close friend Jhene Aiko. He also stated that he was working on establishing his own record label.
