6. Federal Institute of Technology Ilaro
The Federal Polytechnic of Ilaro was created by Decree no. 33, July 25, 1979. It is open to students on November 15, 1979, in a temporary location provided by the host community of Casco Antiguo de Ilaro, Ogun State.
The first location of the Polytechnic was the premises of the Anglican Ilaro Primary School, half a kilometer from the intersection of the Municipality of Ilaro.
The Polytechnic held this temporary position until 1983 when it was transferred to its permanent location along the Ilaro / Oja-Odan highway, about three kilometers from the municipality of Ilaro. It is also about 60 kilometers from Idiroka, a Nigerian border town with the Republic of Benin.
The city of Ilaro itself is an ancient landlocked town between Lagos and Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. The Polytechnic occupies a total of 898,116 hectares of land in its permanent location.
Access to Ilar and even the Polytechnic can be obtained from Abeokuta by the Abeokuta-Lagos highway via Papalanta [22 km] or by the Abeokuta-Owode highway via Ibese [10 km], from Lagos by Sango-Ota-Idiroko highway via Owoda [15 km], and from Sagamua by Sagamu-Obele highway via Papalanta. The position of the Federal Polytechnic of Ilar facilitates access to road traffic. There is a train station in the municipality of Ilaro.
7. Kwara State Polytechnic
Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, was founded by His Excellency, then Military Governor of Kwara State, Colonel David Bamigboye.
