Best Halloween Video GamesPin

There are many different types of horror-themed media available these days. But the best Halloween video games may be the most terrifying of them all, owing to the level of immersion and participation they provide.

However, if you’ve ever sat in a dark room with headphones on while playing a game like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, you’ll understand what we’re talking about.

Furthermore, please don’t need to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Horror games are not for the faint-hearted.

Some of the best Halloween video games for this spooky Halloween season are;

1. Amnesia: Rebirth

Frictional Games is returning to the series that put them on the map with Amnesia: Rebirth. after creating a phenomenon with Amnesia: The Dark Descent and followed it up with the existential horror of Soma.

Additionally, the aesthetic of Rebirth, which takes place in 1937, is halfway between The Dark Descent’s Victorian-era castles and Soma’s hyper-futuristic undersea complex.

Of course, nothing is, as it seems, in a Frictional game, and even the release date trailer gives us hints that we’re in for an even wider and scarier journey than we may expect.

Besides, Amnesia: Rebirth is due to hit theaters on October 20, making it a fantastic chance to catch some fresh horrors for Halloween.

5. World of Horror

World of Horror, a modestly animated text adventure that’s all eerie vibes all the time. It is now in Early Access, and hence seems a little incomplete, but don’t sleep on it.

Additionally, the roguelite game sends you out into a strange town beset by twisted people and supernatural horrors, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and horror manga artist Junji Ito.

Furthermore, World of Horror makes you feel like you’re immersed in one of Ito’s bizarre short stories.

The “Dead Space” series combines action, suspense, and horror into one package. Although there is the third installment.

The terrible opponents and eerie environment make the first two “Dead Space” games must-plays, especially during this spooky month.

7. Allen: Isolation

Although there have been dozens of “Alien” games, it took years for a game to truly capture the spirit of the original picture.

Furthermore, “Alien: Isolation” is the game that accomplished it, and it’s even accessible on recent consoles.

Additionally, will you be able to escape the alien’s violent and brooding patrol? Likely no. But it’s entertaining to try!

Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3.

8. MedEvil

MediEvil is a love letter to all things Halloween, more joyful, and colorful than a bag of candy. It is one of the best Halloween video games for a spooky Halloween.

Besides, this, hack-and-slash escapade features a skeleton hero, spooky graveyards, scarecrows, comes-to-life, creepy pumpkin creatures, and enough inventive ghouls, ghosts, and goblins to stretch Tim Burton’s face.

Furthermore, midEvil is a delightful, personality-packed celebration of the season, even if it isn’t really scary.

Available on PlayStation 2&3, Nintendo 64, Xbox 360.

9. BioShock

Bioshock is one of the best Halloween video games for a spooky Halloween. In the undersea dystopia known as “Rapture,” little girls jabbing enormous needles into lifeless bodies are the least of your concerns.

Furthermore, that’s the world in which “BioShock” takes place, and it’s a fascinating character in its own right. But it’s the “Big Daddies,” the males with the gigantic drill arms, who you should be wary of.

Available on PlayStation 3&4, Xbox One & 360.

10. The Last of Us

People are, without a doubt, the worst monsters of all. Isn’t that something you’ve known all along? That’s the plot of “The Last of Us,” a moving story about two post-apocalyptic survivors.

However, you’ll hide from marauding bands of bandits, but the humans who are slowly evolving into zombie-like monsters are just dangerous as the bad guys.

11. Blair Witch

This interactive return to the Black Hills Forest. Which is better than either of the original film’s sequels, puts players in the shoes of a former police officer hunting for a lost child.

However, you’ll explore the haunting woods from behind a flickering flashlight, uncovering dark truths, manipulating found footage, and stumbling across more than a few scenarios capable of planting future nightmares.

Additionally, Bullet, a canine companion that provides company when he’s not hunting out clues or howling at monsters, helps to alleviate psychological scares.

Blair Witch is one of the best Halloween video games for a spooky Halloween.

Available on Xbox One and Pc.

12. Carrion

Since John Carpenter’s legendary picture, The Thing debuted in 1984, there has been a slew of games that put you in the shoes of a scientist or military battling an alien danger.

However, it’s uncommon to come across a game that puts you in the shoes of a monster, and Carrion accomplishes just that.

Additionally, you are in charge of an amorphous monster whose sole purpose is to devour everyone in its path, grow larger, and spread its biomass across the globe.

Furthermore, with your sticky tendrils, you slither around each location, sucking every human into your toothy maw.

Available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and Mac

13. Until Dawn

“Until Dawn,” on the other hand, is a straight-up old-school horror game. And one of the best Halloween video games of all time.

It begins with a group of teenagers alone in a cabin in the woods, much like a classic horror film.

Additionally, help a bunch of buddies make a sequence of bizarre decisions that will almost certainly result in everyone’s downfall. Yes, there is a terrible serial killer on the loose.

Available On PS4

14. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is more than just a horror game. There aren’t many jumps scares, no reanimated corpses, and you spend a lot of time chatting with your fellow passengers on the train.

Additionally, dark, cramped corridors oozing with a foreboding atmosphere are what Metro Exodus has to offer.

Sure, there are plenty of open regions in Exodus, but some of the most horrifying moments occur while you’re imprisoned in the metro, scouring for supplies while evading irradiated monsters.

Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia.

15. Little Nightmares

Little Nightmares is far scarier than you may imagine, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was playing it.

Furthermore, Little Nightmares, like Playdead’s Limbo or Inside, features no speech, allowing the scary landscapes and tight mood to drive the suspense.

However, everything comes to a nice conclusion, even if it is a little open-ended. Three DLC chapters have been released for Little Nightmares: The Game, and you can obtain the entire experience in Little Nightmares: The Game. The Entire Book

Available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Pc.

16. ZombiU

Between the new “Fatal Frame” and the not-so-new “Zombie,” the Wii U has a surprisingly large library of exclusive horror games.

However, it’s an excellent horror game that uses the Wii U’s gamepad in fascinating ways that we won’t spoil here. Plus, it’s a good deal right now.

Available On Wii U, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

17. A Plague Tale: Innocence

If zombies and ghosts aren’t enough to keep you awake at night, a swarm of diseased rats erupting from the rotting flesh of a dead horse could.

Besides, A Tale of the Plague: Innocence has plenty of horrific images, but it also has emotive storytelling and meaningful character development to balance out the game’s nightmare-inducing moments.

However, you’ll use a variety of clever mechanics to combat and evade human adversaries, solve puzzles, and keep the relentless rodent horde from getting under your skin… literally.

Additionally, as an orphaned sister-and-brother duo being hunted by the Inquisition.

You’ll use a variety of clever mechanics to combat and evade human adversaries, solve puzzles, and keep the relentless rodent horde from getting under your skin… literally.

It is one of the best Halloween video games you should play if you love horror games.

Available on PlayStation 4&5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X.

18. Silent Hill 2

Because so much has already been saying about Silent Hill 2. I’ll refrain from providing any overt critical critique of this famous survival-horror sequel and instead focus on why it still rocks.

Furthermore, the notion should be enough to pique your interest. However, you play as James Sutherland, a widowed man who travels to the misty village of Silent Hill in quest of his dead wife, who has managed to write you a letter.

Silent Hill 2’s tale was unlike anything I’d ever experienced as a middle schooler (yep, I played it in 8th grade).

Additionally, there were no action heroes, no explosions, and no complicated government plots. My hands were glued to the page due to a terrible sense of dread, an ominous atmosphere, and compelling characters.

Available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3.

19. Slender: The Eight Pages

The fan-made game “Slender: The Eight Pages” is based on the popular internet character “Slender Man.” Will you be able to get away from the persistent Slender Man?

Because he’s on his way. And it’s coming. And it won’t stop until you’re completely terrified. Additionally, the fact that the game is entirely in first-person adds to the tension. This is the “Slender” game for you if you like that kind of thing.

Available on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Classic Mac OS.
