Aquatic horror movies cause fear of the ocean. The medical name for fear of the deep, dark ocean is thalassophobia, and it appears that we all have it to varying levels.

We all have a natural terror when confronted with darkness, water, and strange creatures; this is why underwater movies belong to the horror genre.

1. Jaws (1975)

Also Dr. Hoak made the test site to form a mutant strain of piranha fish for use against the NVA in the Vietnam War.
