16 of the Best Anime Couples to Watch

Best Anime CouplesPin

Who are your best anime couples? Keep on reading to find out. Relationships in anime have been praised as romantic and sorrowful, making them among the most iconic in animation history.

Anime is a kind of media that various demographics and artistic subgenres may enjoy.

The genres of the most popular anime in the globe vary from action-packed shonen to suspenseful psychological dramas.

However, regardless of the subgenre, most anime utilizes tried-and-true conventions and storylines.

There is an almost 100% chance, regardless of whatever anime is being discussed, that at some time in the series, a romance plot will be developed for at least one of the characters, if not all of them.

These storylines may grab the spotlight or remain in the background. Still, they are ultimately responsible for creating some of the most well-known and beloved romantic relationships in the annals of fictional history.

Best Anime Couples

Let’s look at the best anime couples without any further ado.

1. Ichigo and Orihime (Bleach)

Ichigo and Orihime are one of the best anime couples whose love story inspires others. It’s no secret that Ichigo is a bold, obstinate, and impatient badass.

Orihime remains mild-mannered, sensitive, and quiet even when Ichigo is particularly boisterous.

Ichigo’s devotion to his companions made him vulnerable enough to develop feelings for Orihime.

It’s the kind of love you can see coming from a mile away, and the future they have together has been explored in the manga, but we’ll finally get to see it play out on screen once the next season begins.

2. Meliodas & Elizabeth (Seven Deadly Sins)

In Seven Deadly Sins, many of the key characters are engaged in some love conflict.

For Meliodas, the penalty of seeing his beloved Elizabeth repeatedly die, knowing he could do nothing to stop it due to a curse his father set on him, has been unbearable.

After slaying the Demon King and breaking the curse that had tormented them, the protagonists don’t get married until the end of the series.

The self-sacrificing love they show to each other qualifies them as one of the best anime couples.

3. Tatsumi and Mine (Akame Ga Kill!)

Given that Mine doesn’t tell Tatsumi, the newest member of Night Raid, she loves him until she’s seriously hurt, they are among the most sorrowful anime couples on the list.

Their relationship has all the hallmarks of a high school love story, but when he’s captured, Mine proves how serious she is about trying to rescue her boyfriend.

It is clear now that her mockery and mocking of Tatsumi were attempts to stifle her love for the country kid.

4. Renji and Rukia (Bleach)

One of the best anime couples, Renji and Rukia, have been in love since they were young adults.

They’ve created a bond that has made them both stronger Shinigami and willing to risk everything for one other.

Despite the fact that Rukia and Ichigo had a chance at becoming an item, it was always clear that Renji was the one for her because of their shared history and adoration.

5. Naruto and Hinata (Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden)

Another relationship we saw coming a mile away, but it took two seasons and a movie to see them take the plunge.

Many readers were disappointed that Naruto didn’t realize the years that Hinata had spent pining over him but was too concentrated on winning to notice.

But when it does, it’s like a weight is lifted because you know these two were always meant to be together, and the history they share provides a fairytale ending that doesn’t stop when the credits roll on Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

6. Kirigaya and Yuuki (Sword Art Online)

I need help thinking of the best anime couples where one’s connection was so crucial to the beginning of the anime.

Most of Kirigaya’s motivation from Season 1 through Season 3 comes from his love for Yuuki, and his eternal devotion to her is the driving force of the plot.

I can’t believe I haven’t gotten tired of seeing them together or rolled my eyes at their obvious devotion to one another.

It’s easy to imagine a couple who fell in love in a virtual environment and then realized they’d be trapped there forever, wanting to do everything to reunite with each other in the actual world.

Kirigaya is much sought after by other ladies in the game, perhaps due to his loyalty and swordsmanship.

7. Asuma & Kurenai (Naruto: Shippuden)

This unhappy pair’s relationship was never discussed in class, although everyone in school knew they were dating.

Whenever one of the students repeatedly pressed Asuma for details about their time together, she would deflect the inquiry, setting off a chain reaction of comedic exchanges.

Unfortunately, his passing shattered the hopes of many viewers, particularly after learning of Kurenai’s pregnancy.

They cut, however, because despite being over heels in love, they opted to hide it for the sake of their kids.

8. Kenshin & Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin)

There was clear potential between Kenshin and Kaoru the instant she assaulted him. After 65 episodes, the former assassin does propose to the woman he has been guarding.

The compatibility of Kenshin’s gentleness and pacifism with Kaoru’s assertive femininity was always intended to produce fruitful results. They are one of the best anime couples in the series.

9. Edward & Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Because Winry was the only one who could construct and fix Edward’s mechanical limbs, their encounters were consistently funny.

There was undeniable energy between them, even if it was sometimes stressful since Edward only seemed to pop by when he wanted something.

But as time went on, they realized how much they had grown to enjoy each other during the years they had spent together as kids and as adults

Everything culminates in an honest expression of their feelings for one another before he continues his journey, knowing that this time he has someone to return to no matter what happens.

Their love story makes it fitting for them to be listed among the best anime couples.

10. Inuyasha and Kagome (Inuyasha)

What an exciting day for those who had predicted their future happiness together.

It was a cliché that Kagome had to risk her life and kiss the half-demon amid his metamorphosis to rescue him, but as a child seeing this, it still touched me.

Although this scene is shown in an anime film (much like Naruto’s), it serves to solidify their love for one other, especially as Inuyasha had always been a man with two loves.

11. Ban & Elaine (Seven Deadly Sins)

Ban and Elaine’s love is, on film, a little uncomfortable. Elaine, who is of the fairy race, looks like a kid despite being more than a thousand years old.

Beautifully, like many other Seven Deadly Sins couples, they persisted in standing up for one another against overwhelming circumstances.

Ban’s gift of immortality came at the expense of Elaine’s life. Thus he had given up on love, but with Elaine’s partial resurrection at the hands of the Ten Commandments, he was determined to give her a new lease on life.

Ban, being Ban, figures out a way to relinquish his immortality and restore Elaine to life. I can’t help but feel a tear welling up.

12. Yusuke and Keiko (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Another addition to the list of best anime couples is Yusuke and Keiko, who have known each other since they were kids.

Keiko is the sort of girl who won’t put up with any nonsense from Yusuke and will smack some sense into him when he needs it.

Though she may be irritable sometimes, her undying love for Yusuke is evident whenever she addresses any topic related to the demon realm.

She knows how difficult it must be for her boyfriend to handle all of the obligations he has been assigned.

13. Spike & Julia (Cowboy Bebop)

Spike’s reason for fake-dying was to be with his girlfriend Julia, albeit the audience didn’t get to spend much time with them.

As one of the best anime couples, they had to put it mildly, a tumultuous past, but the fact that they wished to leave behind their criminal history and begin over gave you cause for optimism.

Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case, but I’d like to believe that they somehow crossed paths in the hereafter despite the fact that they both perished at the story’s conclusion.

14. Midoriya and Ochaco (My Hero Academia)

I like this combination more than almost any other pairing possibility.

Even if they haven’t spoken about how they feel to each other yet, their mutual concern for one another is palpable.

In Ochaco’s case, she’s used her attraction to him as fuel to become an even more formidable hero.

They’re both so kind and suitable for one another; their relationship is exactly the sort I want to see flourish.

Since this has been hinted at for quite some time, I believe that supporters will celebrate when the time finally arrives.

15. Touka & Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul )

When you’re introduced to these people, you know they’re meant to be together.

It’s incredibly satisfying to see these two reunited after Kaneki loses his memories since they’ve been through so much together, merely bonding as fellow ghouls.

Naturally, they would end up fulfilling the audience’s desires when they kiss after the ambush, sleep together, and Touka becomes pregnant, leading to their marriage and the birth of their adorable children.

This happy finale for the pair was a welcome change of pace in an otherwise dark and violent drama.

16. Hiro and Two-Zero ( Darling in the FRANXX )

Since the couples in this program are referred to as “darlings,” I assumed they would become romantic at some point. Their history together, however, ensured that they would eventually end up together.

To see that Zero Two was making every effort to transform into a human so that she could be with her first love, Hiro, was heartbreaking.

Their love not only made them the formidable FRANXX pilots they were, but it also humanized Zero Two and gave Hiro something more to fight for, making them one of the best anime couples.

They committed to one other for the rest of the time, and thank goodness they kept their word.
