Design and Display
The Nokia 7.1 looks like everything a smartphone released in late 2018 and early 2019 would look like.
Measuring around 160g, the Nokia 7.1 has a decent build with front and back panels made with Gorilla Glass 3 with an aluminum frame.
The smartphone has a 5.84-notched display and a piece of bezel at the bottom bearing the Nokia Brand name. The discreet notch houses the selfie camera, the speaker, and sensors.
At the back is a dual camera stack with an LED flash. The Android One and Nokia Logos are still visible.
The top of the phone is home to a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left side contains the hybrid dual sim and micro SD slot, while the right houses the power and volume buttons. The USB C charging port and speaker are at the base of the phone.
The display panel on this smartphone is a 5.84 LCD panel with just about 80% screen-to-body ratio, 19:9 aspect ratio, and 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution.
Camera
The Nokia 7.1 offers a decent rear camera with dual Zeiss-tuned camera sensors. The primary sensor consists of a 12MP lens with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary depth sensor with a 5MP lens and f/2.4 aperture. There is a dual-LED flash assisting the rear camera.
The front camera has an 8MP lens with f/2.0 aperture and no LED flashlight. All lenses should perform well in bright-light and low-light environments.
Hardware
The Nokia 7.1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with eight cores, and a maximum speed clocked at 1.8GHz (4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.6 GHz Kryo 260 Silver). The processor speed should handle games like Asphalt 8 and other games well.
The processor is assisted by either 3GB or 4GB of RAM space and 64GB of storage space.
Storage can be expanded up to 400GB using a micro SD card. Multitasking should not pose a problem.
Battery and Software
The Nokia 7.1 is bundled with a meager 3060mAh battery and good power management.
On heavy usage, though, the phone will only last about seven and a half hours, while average usage will see it stay up to 11 hours. On the bright side, there is a 15W fast charge adapter bundled with it.
Though the Nokia 7.1 was sold with Android 9 Pie, it now has Android 10 upgrades (released in December 2019) thanks to the Android One program. Monthly security updates are guaranteed, and there is no bloatware on the phone.
