Infinix Hot 8 Released: Features, Review

Infinix Hot 8

Infinix Mobility has announced the new Infinix Hot 8 device on Wednesday. The device that is mean to serve as direct successor the Infinix Hot 7 was released in India first (might come to Nigeria anytime soon).

Infinix Hot 8 Features

So, here are the features in case you want to buy this device.

Design and Display

The Infinix Hot 8 has the basic design of any smartphone in the budget market though there is improved sleek look, glass unibody and round edges.

The gradiant color is pleasing as well as the water drop notch. Seems like Transsion holding is beginning to love the games of cameras as the triple camera set up that graced the Hot S4 and Smart 3 Pro made a comeback here.

The vertical camera and the flashlight graces the top left side of back the phone. The fingerprint is in the middle.

The Infinix Hot 8 comes with a 6.52 HD+ massive display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and what infinix claims is a 90% screen-to-body ratio. This good for games and seeing movies. The resolution stands at 720*1600.

Other aspects includes a 3 in card slot for two nano sim and SD card. Colour options are Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey, Midnight Black

Camera

There is an 8MP AI single camera module that relies on screen flash (which infinix terms Magic LRD flash). The 8 MP camera seems to be a norm for budget devices nowadays.

For the rear camera, there is a triple camera setup + powerful Quad flash. The modules consists of 13MP + 2 MP lenses and a low light sensor. The Lenses are same with the Hot 7 Pro and Smart 3 plus.

It still came with the AR stickers though

Hardware components and Software

There are two variants of the Hot 7 device. One variant runs on the Helio P22 Cortex A53 Octacore processor at 2.0 GHz while the other is Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 Quadcore processor at 2.0 GHz.

For storage, you either get a 2GB of RAM space version with 32GB stotage space (the Quadcore processor version) or you have 4GB of RAM space version with 64 GB storage space (octacore processor).

Both devices runs on Android 9.0 under the XOS 5 skin

Nigerians should not expect the 4GB version though as Infinix has made a habit of sending us a 1GB of RAM variant with 16GB storage and Android GO.

Battery

Infinix was kind enough to add a 5000mAh battery to the device. That should allow 18.1 hrs of 4G Talk-time, 17.6 hrs Music Playback, 14 hrs Video Playback, 18.6 hrs Web Surfing, 11.4 hrs Gaming. Unfortunately, there is no mention of flashcharge hence it will take about 3 hours to fill up the juice.

Price

The Infinix Hot 8 (2GB variants) sells for around 7000 Indian Rupees which should be around N36000 giving current rates as when this article was written.
