There are several scary moments in Hocus Pocus, such as when Sarah Parker’s witch uses her hypnotizing singing voice to attempt and lead the town’s children to their death during the movie’s running duration.

9. Fantasia (1940)

  • Director: James Algar, Samuel Armstrong, and Ford Beebe Jr.
  • Star cast: Leopold Stokowski, Deems Taylor, and Walt Disney
  • IMDb ratings: 7.7

A magnificent compilation of eight animated musical vignettes. Fantasia was so expensive that it didn’t begin making money until its 1969 theatrical re-release, making it the first movie ever to be released in stereo.

When inflation is taken into account, the movie is one of the best scary movies on Disney plus. If you ever get the chance to see Fantasia in a theatre, take advantage of it.

A live orchestra will bring out the most in this masterpiece. Set to composer Modest Mussorgsky’s “A Night on Bald Mountain,” Satan and his followers are seen in the finale as they terrorize a sleepy mountaintop.

With the story of a shipwrecked crew from another ship who has some link to the earlier ship and the captain of the missing vessel who appears to have gone mad.
