Hello, and welcome to today’s smartphone battle. Lately, the UMiDigi phone line has caught my eye, so I decided to review it.
Seeing the specifications and features and how much readers viewed the UMiDigi A3S vs. Tecno Pouvoir 3 Air, I decided to bring Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs. UMiDigi Power 3
Hong Kong-based Transsion Holdings Tecno is a powerhouse in Africa and a household name in Nigeria.
Many people have used a Tecno Device at some point, as they brought some of the company’s first Android Phones to Nigeria, making it a popular choice in the Region (check out our list of best Tecno phones).
UMiDigi, on the other hand, is a Chinese company trying to break into Africa. While they did have a deal with Jumia to enable them to break into Nigeria, not much has been heard from them despite their devices’ popularity and extremely low prices.
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is Tecno’s flagship device for its battery-focused line-up, launched in August 2019. The UMiDigi Power is its brand’s powerhouse, launched in October 2019.
Here is the comparison between the two devices;

Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Design
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is a 2019 device with a U-shaped (infinity U) notched display with rounded edges. There is an LED flash on either side of the selfie camera on the top frame. The bottom chin is not quite big, as it helps with structural integrity.
The UMiDigi Power 3 has a hole-punch display, which allows for more display. There is no LED flash and a bottom chin, too.
The power and volume controls are on the right side of both phones, while the Google Assistant button is on the left side of the Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus. The base of both phones holds the 3.5mm audio jack, mic, USB port (Type C in the UMiDigi), and speaker.
The back of the Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus has a gradient-designed protective covering, a triple camera setup, and quad flash LEDs arranged vertically. The UMiDigi Power 3 uses a rear quad-camera setup and dual-LED flash arranged vertically.
Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Display
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus uses a 6.35-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1548 pixels (720p) and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
The UMiDigi Power 3 uses a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display panel with a 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution (1080p) and a 20:9 aspect ratio.
While the AMOLED display has been praised for its low power consumption, going by specifications and size, I will choose a 1080p IPS display over a 720o AMOLED.
Considering the selfie camera design, rear camera, and display specifications, I will pick the UMiDigi Power 3. However, as the saying goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the buyer.
Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Camera Specifications
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus offers a 13MP selfie camera with AI backing. Two LED flashes are present for low-light selfies. The smartphone is equipped with a 13MP main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 2MP depth camera, and quad flashlights. AI capabilities are also present.
The UMiDigi Power 3, on the other hand, trumps the Pouvoir in the camera department. First, a 16MP selfie camera with different features sits in the punch hole.
The rear camera modules consist of a 48MP main camera, 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera with 120 degrees field of view, 5MP depth sensor, and 5MP macro sensor. With UMiDigi Power 3’s pro-grade AI quad camera system, you can choose between the ultra wide-angle lens, macro lens for close-up, depth lens for great portraits, and main camera for everyday moments.
While the lack of LED for the selfie camera on the UMiDigi Power 3 may have been a drawback, one can’t just ignore the wonderful lenses it packs.
Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Hardware Specification (Processor, RAM, Storage)
The hardware of a phone controls its features to a very large extent. In most cases, battles between smartphones are often decided by their chipset.
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus features the Helio P22 octa-core chipset, which has 8 Cortex A53 cores clocked to a maximum speed of 2.0GHz. The phone also uses the PowerVR GE8320 GPU, which clocks at 600MHz.
The UMiDigi Power 3 uses the Helio P60 octa-core chipset with four cortex 74 cores and 4 Cortex A53 cores. The chip is paired with an ARM Mali G72 MP3 GPU with speed that is up to 800MHz. Though clocked at 2.0 GHz, the P60 is more power efficient and supports more RAM speed and GPU turbo.
Both devices have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. The UMiDigi uses LPDDR4X RAM, which is better than the LPDDR3X RAM on the Tecno.
Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Software and Battery
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus was launched with Android 9.0 Pie running under HiOS 5. The HiOS comes with multiple installed apps and adverts and lots of other accessible features.
The UMiDigi Power 3, on the other hand, was released with stock Android 10, which means it runs the pure version of Android without additional apps. For most people, this is smoother.
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus has a 6000mAh battery, while the UMiDigi Power 3 has a 6,150mAh battery. The extra 150mAh may not count for anything, though.
Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus vs UMiDigi Power 3: Conclusion
The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus has proven to be a great device and has easily accessible repair parts, but if I were to choose, the UMiDigi would be the device I would go for.
The reasons?
- Bigger Display 6.53 Inch
- 1080p resolution is better than 720p
- Better camera specs, 16MP selfie. 48MP + 13MP + 5 MP + 5MP
- Processor, by a slight % the P60 is better than the P22.
- OS: Android 10 optimizations and unbloated seems appealing.
